About cleavesontheline
cleavesontheline is the official website of me, Trevor Cleaves, the writer.
Over many years I have dabbled in writing a poem here, a micro story there, but the writing bug really bit me in 2014 when out of the blue I started a novel. I was amazed to find that I'd actually finished it a year later, all 95,000 words of it. Sadly, like all first novels it sits alone on a shelf, a damaged personality. I hope to administer some TLC in due course, but there's no rush, eh?
Since then I have completed five Adult Ed. and a couple of short Uni. writing courses and, significantly, a Masters degree in Creative Writing at Canterbury Christ Church University. I'm drawn to prose works with a socio-political message or moral, often with a twist, but am not averse to a bit of humour (or a verse!)
I have been 'placed' in one competition and have recently contributed to an anthology on Covid and Lockdown. My current work, a novel, with a working title of Three, concerns three disparate teenagers, and their need to escape from physical and emotional dangers that have befallen them. Their initially separate journeys of discovery across Europe, lead to their paths crossing in dramatic ways.

I first trained as an actor, with a drama degree from Middlesex University and, via various jobs, I'm now happily working as a tutor for young children, where I also run a guided-reading, junior, book club.
